Reasons why depression is a serious condition

One thing everyone goes through is times when they don't feel that great. But in some cases this can aggravate into depression. This is a usual case and can happen to a lot of people.  But there are times when it does get too serious and needs to be treated. That is why in this article we are going to talk about some reasons why depression needs to be taken seriously.

But first, we must understand what depression is.Some circumstances may lead to depression.  I have seen many causes of depression in my depression counselor service.  Maybe a person may lose a loved one or maybe they lose a job or income. Those can be some of the usual causes of depression but it can be also due to a chemical imbalance in the person's body.  Those are times when you need to treat it with medicine usually.

But you also have to take seriously the depression caused by natural reasons.  There comes a time you want to make sure it doesn't get too bad.  Getting too bad is where a person might hurt themself. As a family therapist San Diego practice I see those instances when it does get too bad.I have witnessed some cases where they can already hurt themselves.  That is why if you see someone depressed and it goes on for awhile you want to seek help.

Also if it goes on for some time it can venture over into anger. If it happens you will worry now about not only them hurting themselves but them hurting others also. But when it comes to depression the usual worry is them hurting themselves.  But when it turns to anger they can hurt others.  That is what we see happen in my anger management counseling service.  That is when they have to seek help.

As you may have seen depression must be treated before it gets worse.Depression is a normal affliction of people from time to time but once it gets serious it can hurt other people.

Peter Kramer, the psychiatrist author of LISTENING TO PROZAC (1993), continues his crusade against the debilitating effects of depression in this passionate argument. Kramer claims that depression is a disease, not merely a condition, and one that does more harm to people than diseases usually thought to be much more serious, like cancer and AIDS. But Kramer does much more than merely bemoan the illness. He delves into the way society looks at depression, wondering why a certain amount of glamour has always accompanied it, and why the classic concept of the suffering artist is so ingrained in our culture.
