Panic Cycle
Are Obama supporters right to enter into "Panic Mode" on Obama's presidential aspirations is dying?
By Afrik [France]: panic mode as Barack Obama goes on vacation Friday August 8, 2008 Although it has been what is widely hailed as a campaign most impressive in years, Democrats live in fear of Mr Obama falling prey to the type of accident that derailed predecessors in earlier cycles. With polls showing her neck and neck with John McCain on a stage at which many Democrats hoped would be in the clear, worry about missing the type of image that helped defeat John Kerry in 2004. http://en.afrik.com/article14235.html

Panic Attacks Cure – Break the Panic Fear Cycle
The ‘panic-fear-panic' cycle makes it very difficult for a person to control or come down from a panic attack. Let's look at a three stage process for breaking this vicious cycle…
Stage 1 - Orientation
You are in a panic attack and your mind is not functioning rationally. It can't due to the levels of adrenalin pumping around your mind. The first thing to do is try to sit down and not move around much. Moving around disorientates you and simply adds to your confusion. If you can't sit down, try to hold onto something solid so you can ground yourself and feel that you are not going to fall. This will help you start to focus your mind by allowing you to get your bearing on your confused surrounding. You need to feel physically secure in one place.
Stage 2 - Reassurance
The next thing you need to do is to try and find a little reassurance. This may come from a friend or other person who is helping you. If you haven't anyone near, you need to try and concentrate your mind by looking at something non-threatening. This may be an everyday situation such as people eating in a café or an everyday object that you know such as your handbag or a bunch of keys. Just something that you can focus on to reassure your confused mind that the world is still normal and that there really is nothing to be afraid of. This will help to reduce your fear level which will begin the process of bringing down your defence mechanism.
Stage 3 – Returning to normal
Once you have your fear under a little control, you should use the ‘stop panic attack' breathing method to: further lower your heart beat, return your breathing to normal and ease off the effects of the ‘fight or flight' adrenalin rush you may have experienced. Give yourself time to really take in that your surroundings are actually safe and that the danger you may have expected is not there. Returning yourself to normal is vital and shouldn't be rushed as you may actually trigger another panic attack by becoming too anxious again. Only once you fell comfortable again should you continue your activities.
