Advice on dealing with anxiety
In today’s society we all have a certain amount of stress and anxiety that we must learn to deal with. In fact, a lot of this stress is necessary and part and parcel of living. Dealing with anxiety such as this is part of our daily routine. You might for example be concerned about your relationship with your boss or the reliability of your car. This is normal and most of us can cope quite well with it.

Occasionally though our concerns turn into anxieties that are significant enough to affect our actual lives. For most people, appropriate levels of stress are beneficial as it can help galvanize us into action. The problems begin when the anxiety is so great that a person does the exact opposite and hides from their life.
It is not easy to learn how to cope with anxiety if you are continually under duress and are worried about the possibility of having an anxiety attack. In fact, this fear alone can cause a peson to have a series of serious panic attacks.
To begin with it can be useful to try and take a step back and see if you can see if there is an obvious cause for your attacks. If you are unable to immediately understand the reasons for the way you feel, you may have to dig a little deeper. Don't worry if you can't figure things out immediately, sometimes we repress the things that bother us so that it is hard to discover what they are.

It may be beneficial to share your problem with a friend or family an you can even start to keep a journal. The advantage of writing things down is that it allows you to be more objective and to note correlations that you might otherwise miss. Once you have found out what the cause of your anxiety is then you can begin to work to eliminate it.
If you are able to change the circumstances which are causing your anxiety, then it is a good idea to take positive action. If on the other hand you are dealing with a “what if” or hypothetical situation, and you are simply looking at a worst case scenario, then you must learn to let it go. You must try to focus your energies and worries on things that you can control.
